How to be wise
Hi guys
I love this quote
Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Recently, I seem to be having the same conversation in different guises;
When running leadership training for a group of senior doctors.
When discussing geopolitics with a medic friend.
When chatting to other friends about relationship dynamics.
It has all boiled down to the same thing - the Serenity quote above.
The quote has a pithy summary of courage, acceptance and wisdom. It was written in the 1930s and widely distributed.
It can sometimes feel like a saccharine, throw away comment (I have seen it adorning greetings cards).
However, on reflection it actually contains some real nuggets of truth, which is probably why it has stood the test of time.
If you try (as I have) to implement what it suggests in all areas of life, it is actually quite tricky.
Taking some actions can be very daunting - you have to really screw up your courage.
Other things are hard to let go of - it can take a lot of practice!
But the good news is you can make progress; though, like everything, it takes time.
What have you done recently that took all your courage?
Have you tried to let go of a long cherished belief that’s no longer serving you?
How did it go?
The good news is that working through these things alongside others really helps.
That’s why I do what I do.
As this stuff is waaay harder to do alone.
Contact me to let me know your thoughts, I love hearing from you.
Till next time,
Take Care
Katya
