It’s all happening this summer.

We have hardly drawn breath from the World Cup and we are onto a new Prime Minister.

So much of the talk around both has looked at the performance of the teams and political parties. The coaches, the leaders and the followers...

Will it make the boat move forward?

…What does leadership mean to you?

There are many models out there - you just have to look at global geopolitics for examples of all types of leadership styles, some more hierarchical than others (need I say more).

I love Compassionate Leadership; how you - and I - can serve as leaders.

Serve our teams, our clients, our vision.

Work out what makes our team members tick and thereby engage and motivate them.

What do they love? and hate?

What do they think of themselves and their strengths?

We can act like a rowing cox who takes the time to get to know each rower.

So when they tire we, like the cox, know just what words our rower needs to hear to keep going.

And that helps the boat move forward.

Doing the same for ourselves is a great habit too.
