How to handle your inner Demon
We all fight our demons from time to time
Hi there
How the blazes are you?
If you have school or uni aged young people - how did you all survive the 'Back to School' season?
Even for those of us who don't have kids, this time of year always brings to mind the fresh starts. I often feel like it's a chance for us to pause and think "What do I want to learn next?"

We all fight our demons from time to time
I have a confession.
I have watched K-Pop Demon Hunters.
More than once.
I did watch it with the kids, but…here's the confession - I secretly liked it.
Maybe that's not really surprising - as it has been Netflix's biggest grossing movie ever, with audiences extending beyond the initial target to those, like me, who are K-Pop novices.
The animated film charts the story of 3 K-Pop singers who just happen to fight demons - and are the only ones standing between humanity's salvation and, you know, a demon apocalypse.
They use superhuman fighting skills along with acceptance, friendship, courage and teamwork (not forgetting the power of K Pop vocals) to save the world.
Standard run-of-the-mill stuff really.
The intriguing question is - why is this movie so successful?
(Aside from the usual - good animation, catchy tunes, a female writer and co- director etc)
Well.
It touches on those themes we all feel from time to time - feeling lonely, demotivated or 'less than'.
We all have things we are ashamed of, and times when we try to 'fight our demons'.
This story has self-acceptance at its heart. Its huge popularity shows that these personal challenges are widespread among us all.
So next time you sit at your laptop, or in clinic, feeling alone and unmotivated, know you are not alone.
We have all been there. I know I have.
The simple human stuff like sharing, acceptance and self compassion will help. (And a little sing song won't hurt either)
Go on, give it a try.
